Watch Me Tri! - GOAL Setting (The Beginning)

Me & Tammy in Miami, FL
Me & Sika in Baltimore, MD

Me & Mc in Negril, Jamaica

I have a GOAL to complete my first IM 70.3 in 2022.  For my readers who are unfamiliar with Ironman (IM): 70.3 is the total distance in miles for this race, which includes a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride, and a 13.1 miles run!  But here's the kicker:  I don't own a bike and I don't even swim!!!! 🤣🤣🤣 I am not a triathlete and I've never done a triathlon other than participating as the 13.1 runner on two triathlon relays this year.  As you can see, I already have so many reasons why I shouldn't tri this.  That's what we do so often in life, we make every excuse for why we can't or shouldn't do something.  It's easier sometime to make an excuse than to actually put forth the required work to manifest a goal!

I have to admit, I was impressed with the drive, determination, and grit of the triathletes at both events, which were the Rev3 Williamsburg and IM 70.3 North Carolina.  Watching my friends and fellow athletes in these events sparked an interest for me to train to compete in a 70.3.  For over a year, I watched my friend @disdeaconruns - Mckenley Mason (see our picture) train for his first IM 140.6 Maryland through a pandemic, and it was absolutely amazing.  He remained consistent with his training, and inspired so many along the way, including me.  In the midst of this, another athlete & friend I admire is Sika Henry (see our picture) who earned her Professional Triathlete Card this year, as the FIRST African American Female in the sport.  One of my best friends and triathlete, Tammy Dotson, was diagnosed with Sjogren's Syndrome during the pandemic; however, she has not allowed this systemic autoimmune disease to stop her from Tri'ing. Although she sometimes have days where she can't train or perform how she'd like because of this disease, she REFUSES to stop Tri'ing. Her level of determination & fortitude is matchless and it reminds me that I have NO excuse.  I mean, talking about some motivation!!!  Wow!!!!

So here I am...I am tri'ing!  I don't know what the outcome will be, but I firmly believe the words of Henry Ford, "if you believe you can do something or you can't do something, you are right." - and I BELIEVE I can do it! Lord's will, I will be an IM 70.3 in 2022! I believe in it so much that I applied to be a part of Team Zoot 2022 and I got accepted!  #WatchMeTri  I hope my journey will #BAB ~ Be A Blessing to someone and will inspire you to step out on faith towards your own goals even if it appears out of reach!  2 Cor 5:7
